National Service Scheme(NSS)


"The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides an opportunity to the student youth of 11th & 12th Class of schools and students of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in it. The aim of the NSS is to provide hands-on experience to young students in delivering community service"

  • There are two types of activities in NSS
    • Regular activities (120 hours)
    • Annual special camp (120 hours)
  • NSS Volunteers who have served in the NSS for at least 2 years. Has served and N.S.S. Have worked 240 hours under, they are given a certificate from the university under the signature of the Chancellor and Program Co-ordinator
  • Camps are usually organized in rural villages or developing areas of the city
  • Volunteers can participate in the following activities...
    • Cleaning
    • Afforestation
    • Stage shows or processions that raise awareness of issues such as social problems, education and hygiene
    • Awareness rallies
    • Inviting doctors for health camp
    • Community Survey
  • NSS Volunteers, Program Officers (POs), as well as NSS. Units and University N.S.S. Appropriate incentives/rewards are given to promote the voluntary service provided by the sales Which include the following awards.
    • Indira Gandhi NSS Award
    • State-level awards
    • University-level awards
    • District level award
    • College-level awards
  • The following activities are conducted by the University
    • Blood Donation camp
    •  Anti Polio camp
    • Adult Education
    • Tree plantation
    • In Election Duty
    • Help during a religious function
    • Cancer, Aids, Save Girl - Child awareness programmes 
    • Celebration of National Festivals - 15th August, 26th January 
    • Relief work during calamites
    • Traffic awareness
